Wildwood School Transition Readiness Services

Starting when students turn age 12, transition coordinators provide information and support to students, families, and staff to assist in preparation for post-graduation.

Transition can be one of the most important, but challenging experiences your child will encounter throughout their journey here at Wildwood School. This information has been designed to help families of all ages navigate and learn about services and support options available to their loved ones. It is never too early to start learning about possible options and transition needs for your child during any stage of their journey. Throughout this website, there are links that will bring you to additional information and a specific topic. If you have any questions/concerns while navigating this website or your child’s transitions, please do not hesitate to contact the Transition Readiness Department through Wildwood School. Together we will make every effort to help your child succeed to the best of their ability.

Wildwood School is equipped with a full time Transition Readiness Department that would be happy to answer any/all of your questions. Whether you have general questions about your child’s transition through school or specific questions concerning your child’s situation, any member of the Transition Readiness Department would be willing to help.

Work Based Learning

One of the important functions of the Transition Readiness Department is the Work Based Learning program.  The goal of Work Based Learning at Wildwood School is to provide all transition aged students opportunities to progress in the New York State Career Development and Occupational Studies learning standards. This is individualized for each student and includes work experiences in school and in community businesses as well as related classes. We also provide vocational assessments to identify abilities and interests both for educational planning and for placement in adult vocational supports and programs.
